The Brusson gold lodes of the Monte Rosa gold district are located in the Alps near Aosta in north-western Italy.

These are some of the hundreds of small veins spread along the internal western and central Alps.   Mineralisaiton is hosted by a variety of units within the Pennine and Austro-alpine nappes.   Total gold production from the region has been estimated at 20 tonnes of metal.

At Brusson the veins cut the Palaeozoic Arcesa-Brusson gneiss dome (Variscan metagranites) and overlap the Mesozoic Piemonte ophiolite nappe.   The veins are steeply dipping and sheet like, ranging from 0.5 mm to 4 m in thickness and can be followed forseveral hundred metres both laterally and vertically.   They occur as large veins in normal faults and as distal stockworks.   The main mineralisation is composed of coarse quartz with minor pyrite, muscovite and ferroan dolomite or magnesite with traces of chalcopyrite, gold and rutile
