Olympic Dam presentations.   The group had a late start next morning, Friday 22 February, departing from the Roxby Motor Inn at just after 08:00 am for the short drive by local charter bus to the BHP Billiton Olympic Dam mine office. There, they were given a safety induction, followed by an introduction from Josh Bryant, Manager Mine Technical Services, covering the setting, discovery and expression of the deposit and an overview of the operation. This was followed by a comprehensive, detailed, expert presentation by Kathy Ehrig, Principal Geometallurgist, covering the geology, mineralisation, alteration, geochemistry, metallurgical characteristics and mineralogical zonation of the deposit. Kathy probably knows more about these aspects of the Olympic Dam than anyone else and the group was grateful for the benefit of her knowledge. These presentations occupied most of the morning. The mine geological staff joined the group for Kathy's presentation.   Photograph by Mike Porter.
