[Roseby visit]
Roseby project visit. The last day of the tour, Wednesday 27 February, commenced with checkout from the Gidgee Inn, and a drive across Cloncurry to the Altona Mining offices. There the group was given a detailed presentation on the Roseby project, its discovery, setting, geology, alteration and mineralisation, by Senior Project Geologist, George Ross. This was followed by the opportunity to study drill core through the Little Eva primary IOCG and the Blackard oxide copper mineralisation. They then drove for 90 minute to the project area, which is northwest of Cloncurry, where they were shown the surface expression of the Little Eva (lower right) and Turkey Creek mineralisation (upper right) completing a very comprehensive and interesting exposition of the mineralised system.
In the mid-afternoon, the visit was terminated in time to drive back to Cloncurry, where some of the group left to return to their local bases. The remainder then drove to Mount Isa, where further participants operating in the area left us. Those remaining, boarded the early evening commercial airline flight to Brisbane, arriving at 9:00 pm, where the tour ended.   Photographs by Mike Porter.
