Noril'sk-Talnakh Panorama

Panoramic view over the Noril'sk-Talnakh Complex:  looking north from just below the Norilsk-1 "Medvejy Ruchey" mine, across the city of Noril'sk to Talnakh in the distance.   The buildings in the foreground are the old 'camp', railway yards, warehouses, workshops and offices, while the main city is across the 'lake'.   The hills in the background are the Permian coal measures and Permo-Triassic trap basalts which overlie the Palaeozoic sediments below the lowlands.   The smelter in the next image is to the right (image taken from the same site).   The location of the Octyabrsky (-Taymirsky) and Komsomolsky mines visited is shown as well as the main residential area at Talnakh.   The large building immediately to the right of Komsomolsky is the concentrator.   The look-out above Talnakh in later images is on the ridge above the Octyabrsky-Taymirsky headframes.
