Mining platinum on a different scale - the Anglo Platinum Potgietersrust (now Mogalakwena) mine exploits the Platreef which may be greater than one hundred metres thick (compared to the UG2 and Merensky Reefs mined elsewhere in the Bushveld that rarely exceed 1 metre in thickness).
