On the final day of the module in New Caledonia, the group left Noumea early to travel to the Goro and Prony deposits in the Plaine des Lacs district, to the southeast, where they spent much of the day studying the major oxide laterite nickel deposits. They returned to Noumea late that afternoon.
Next morning all those from outside of New Caledonia took a morning flight to Sydney to end the tour. Those who were to continue the tour, spent the afternoon in Sydney, catching up with notes and resting after the busy schedule, and next day, Sunday 4 June, departed to travel across the Pacific Ocean and the US to Miami, in Florida, arriving earlier on the same day, where they met up with the new starters on Module 2.
