In the Candelaria pit.    Following a comprehensive briefing on the setting, geology, alteration and mineralisation of the Candelaria deposit, the group was first given an overview of the extensive, deep pit from the mirador (lookout), through the dust haze of the still, dry Atacama desert air (background image), before being taken down to break and study the ore, hosts and alteration. The presentation, discussion and pit visit was led by Minera Candelaria senior geologist Raúl Núñez (top right).
