Drill core from Mount Elliott. Following the classroom presentation at the Mount Dore camp, the group had lunch and were then taken to the core facility to study a range of drill holes through Mount Elliott, Merlin and other key deposits of the Selwyn district. This engaged the group for just on two hours, at the end of which there was an informal discussion session, led by Mat Brown. Subsequently they went to the ROM pad where ore from a range of these deposts was stacked. Finally, in the late afternoon, after a very interesting and worthwhile day, they departed for Cloncurry, to arrive before dusk.
After freshening up, the group returned to the function room at the Gidgee Inn to complete the presentations and discussion commenced on the previous evening, before going to dinner. Photograph by Mike Porter.
