Day 2 of the Hamersley Basin Field Workshop led by Tony Harding of Rio Tinto Iron. Top left: Briefing over regional geological and digital data plans before heading into the field. Top right and centre left: at the Powerline Detrital iron ore deposit near Mount Tom Price - discussion over bulk sample spoil mounds from winzes sunk into the deposit which is developed below the iron formation that forms the ridge in the background. Centre right and lower left: exposure of the un-enriched Marra Mamba Iron Formation. Lower right: On the Weeli Wolli Iron Formation, looking out across the Woongarra Volcanics to the Boolgeeda Iron Formation, the highest in the Hamersley Group, and the end of the traverse.
Between these exposures the group had traversed and studied the sequence from the Fortescue Group, through the entire Hamersley Group, including a poorly exposed, undisturbed ore grade Brockman Iron Formation resource.
