St Ives Invincible - Following the presentation, the group was taken to the overlook above the Invincible pit (top image) - note the entrances to the two decline portals towards the centre of the pit where the tracks lead into the pit wall. The group then had lunch and went back to the Exploration Office to view drill core intersections across the Invincible lodes with Gold Fields geologists (bottom left). When finished, they were taken into the field to walk across section of Lake Lefroy to observe the outcropping Invincible deposit on the opposite bank (lower right image). When they returned to the Tour Charter Bus it was late afternoon, and time to thank Dave Nixon of Gold Fields Exploration for an excellent, thorough, well thought-out and presented visit. The group then returned to Kalgoorlie where some members left the tour, one of whom was to rejoin later for a further visit. One of the tour charter aircraft was positioned to Kalgoorlie that afternoon for the flight to Telfer early next morning, and brought a number of new starters from Perth who joined the group that evening.
