Rosia Montana underground and drill core, Romania. On the second day at Rosia Montana, the group was taken underground into the rehabilitated earlier mine workings, mostly from the mid to late 20th century, but also intersecting some ancient Roman tunnels, to traverse the Carnic ore breccia zone and study the lithologies and mineralisation in detail. Later, on the surface, the group was given the opportunity to study core, sections and assays of representative drill holes cutting across each of the 4 main orebodies at Rosia Montana.
