The Tour moves on to the Philippines. When the Oyu Tolgoi visit in Mongolia was completed, the group returned to Ulaanbaatar and then flew on to Manila, via Beijing, and to General Santos City in the south of Mindanao where they were the guests of Saggitarius Mines (Xstrata). The first day was taken up with inductions and a series of presentations in General Santos City outlining the setting, tectonics, geology, alteration and mineralisation at the Tampakan project and the plans for the development of the deposit and mine. On the following day, the group was taken north to the Tampakan project area in a fleet of 4WD vehicles to study exposures of the various country- and host-rocks as well as the alteration associated with the mineralisation. Left - Studying altered rocks; Right - walking up creek to observe the mineralisation and geology through parts of the deposit; Upper-centre - Chief Geologist, William Domasig (right) points out and discusses features of exposed mineralisation to members of the group.
