Across the Andes
Change of Module and of scenery. An early morning start on Sunday 21 October saw the ongoing group depart their hotel in Las Condes in Santiago for the airport for an early flight, from Santiago de Chile, with connections via São Paulo and Brasilia, to Marabá in Pará, Brazil. This marked the change of Module, from the low, arid Coastal Cordillera, characteristic of Module 1B (top left); over the snow shrouded peaks of the high Andes of Module 1A, but higher, near the 6961 m Aconcagua, and to the south of the sites visited (right); to the tropical lowlands of the Carajás District of the Amazonian Craton in Brazil (bottom left). That evening in Marabá, they rendezvoused with the new starters for Module 2A with an Introductory Meeting and Dinner.
